Fog lined the ground as the sun slowly appeared in the sky to warm up the chilled lands. It had been a harsh winter and even with the change of seasons the cooler weather didn’t seem to want to leave. Frost coated what small amount of plant life had already started to grow in the early spring and songbirds huddled together to keep warm while they waited for the world to warm up. An eerie feeling hung thick in the air, that dead silence and calmness which often meant trouble could send a shiver down even the strongest creature’s spine. Yet a ghostly canine made his way cross an open meadow, eyes staring intensely towards the forest in front of him. Steam escaped his nostrils each breath he took and the air stabbed at his lungs with each inhale. His body seemed tense as he focused on the trees, ears forward and alert as if expecting something. The male moved with smoothness to his walk, confidence and purpose.
Sleek build, oddly colored markings and a nasty feeling as he looked around you would think the male was out for blood; almost demon like in looks, which seemed to fit in well with the growing population of unknown species of canines moving their way into this untamed lands. On a normal day the male would be more intense and crazed but this particular morning Skoll was actually rather calm. Mind so focused on a task that all regular thoughts of his seemed to disappear. Stopping just outside the forest line and raising his head higher into the air to stand in a more proud way. His pause seemed hesitant as if to rethink what he was doing.
What was he doing? Why he had traveled so far and long to find himself getting into a situation that could either ruin his life more or change it for the good. It had been years since he had tainted his mouth with her blood, he had tried to cover it and forget but it always lingered in the back of his mind as well as her unique scent that drove his mind over the edge and into dark waters. He liked to think the reason why he had spent sleepless nights tracking her down was to clear his mind of any guilt he was feeling but really it was something else the drove him. He flared his nostrils as he took a deep breath in, ignoring the chilled air as he sniffed the wind for any sign of her.
“Where are you hiding?” He growled to himself, not afraid to show his annoyance to the situation. Feeling that the direction he was taking would end up leading him to the correct location the male continued forward into the dark forest. The sun was still barely over the mountains, a cool breeze rocked the trees overhead making Skoll shiver slightly. His nose continued to take in all the scents around him, hoping to find something to help him find his way.

The nights were still so cold, even if the days were growing warmer. The sun this far was the only reason for any warmth. Winter was clinging to the lands, not quite ready to leave. Light frost covered plants and foliage over the lands as the sun finally began to climb over the horizon. The sky slowly grew brighter, a brilliant mix of colors as those bright rays peeked out first. Animals were still huddled in their homes for warmth, not yet ready to face the day. Creatures of the night were also snuggling in to their homes. This was the time of day where all animals alike could be found in their homes, sleeping. It wouldn't be for another few hours that the day time critters would make their appearance. Though unbeknownst to others there were a few creatures awake. Those who found solitary hours like this the most enjoyable. A time where they had the world to themselves entirely. The sense fog made it all the more alluring to these creatures. Knowing that it wouldn't last for too long, one had to make sure to be up at just the right time.
Chara was one of the creatures who enjoyed these early hours of the morning. The peacefulness and quiet soothed her in a way that nothing had in some time. Brightly colored figure laid hidden in a thick patch of flowers, teal eyes watching the sky. The colors were a thick mix, still very blue even with the purple and orange seeping through. A low rumble rolled through her chest as she lay alone. The shewolf was merely enjoying the solitude of the area around her. These days being alone were the happiest for her, even if they may be lonely. She'd raised three pups, led a small pack of wolves, she felt that she deserved a little space. A little freedom to do with her life what she wanted and not worry about others. Most mothers might worry about their young, but her pups were full grown. Each of them had a life of their own now with family or pack. Chara had nothing else in her life, or at least nothing that she could have. Beneath that thick purple and red pelt still showed the scars over her neck from their last encounter. While she should probably hate him or be afraid of the dark canine, there was some strange fascination she held towards him. Something about him excited her in a way that no one else could. Disturbing perhaps, but none the less how she felt.
Ears lifted towards the sky as the faint sound of bird chirps began. A low growl rolled through her chest as she pushed slender figure to her feet. Tail flicking back and forth, Chara stretched out long limbs. Jaws parting, a long yawn pulled from her before she clamped them shut again. Standing, this time she shook frost from her pelt. Entire body feeling relaxed and settled, she pushed her way out of the thick flowers and peered around. The fog was less thick now, the forest easily visible through it. One slow step after the other, Chara made her way through the growing grass of the plains. It was about ankle tall already, once spring was a few more weeks in it would climb high enough to hide most wolves. Her body was already feeling the effects of spring, making her uncomfortable. With a soft growl she came to the edge of the forest and gazed around the quiet area. Far enough away from any pack lands, she didn't have to worry about males. At least here alone she was safe, happily on her own. Not that she couldn't easily handle herself if anyone got closer than was her desire. The vibrant colored wolf knew how to defend herself and even better knew how to avoid unwanted attention.
Flicking her tail, Chara rubbed her side against a tree to rid her body of an itch. The bark on the tree scraped against her fur and skin bringing a happy rumble to her chest. Once the itch was sated the female dropped to her rump and sat against the tree. Black nostrils filled with her own scent that now marked the tree. Snorting, she turned teal eyes out to the ever lightening sky and frowned. Would she need to move on once the sun had risen? Or would she get at least another day out of this area? Shifting on her feet, Chara inhaled a deep breath of the morning air only to find a most familiar scent mixed with the wind. Everything in her body went on high alert as she sniffed the air again. There was no mistaking that scent, it was his for sure. Her heart jumped in to her throat and she got to her feet, a low growl vibrating her chest. He was coming, she could feel it. Wagging her tail slowly, the female took a few steps forward and let out a louder growl so that he would hear. It wasn't that she was angry about his presence. She was just warning him that she knew he was there.
